BOBSLED #90105
Donor: John Walker

Who in Canada doesn't have memories of sledding down a hill and then the loooong walk back up? What child hasn't looked forward to a snowy afternoon of sledding and hot chocolate?
Wooden sleds have not changed much over the years, except to add a steering mechanism. Our homemade wooden sled is painted burgundy with black metal runners and a steering handle.
Did you know?
The oldest wooden sled ever discovered dates back to the eighth century in Sweden.
Sledding became a Winter Olympic sport in 1932.
Durable and sturdy hardwoods such as ash, birch, or maple are the best choices if you are building your own sled.
Please share your favourite sledding hill so families can make new memories this winter.
